A Blythe Holiday Tradition

It started way back when my Uncle Jethro abandoned his Arkansas moonshine still. We don’t know all details but, he eventually ended up in the small desert farm town of Blythe, California after moving quite rapidly. Blythe being the unsmart capital of the world, Uncle Jethro fit right in. Shortly after his arrival, he began a tradition still celebrated by Blythians. On this very day, fifty years ago, in Blythe, Jethro made his first vat of homemade mayonnaise right there in Aunt Mabel’s big farmhouse sink. Today, everyone in Blythe still participates in the festive local holiday they call sinko de mayo.
