Walls

These two chunks of the Berlin wall sit on my desk. I keep them nearby to remind me of how blessed I am to be American. As you can see, one of the pieces has remains of graffiti from the West German (free) side of the wall. That “street art” was a message honoring a family member murdered by East German (Communist) military.

My road trip through East Germany in the mid-1980s started at Checkpoint Charlie. At least I think that’s where we entered. I wasn’t driving, so I’m not certain. I was busy counting Kalashnikovs. And praying.

As soon as we arrived on the east side of the wall, the Russian military confiscated my passport. In a sea of machine guns, I was questioned for some time before being informed I had to pay a fee in cash (bribe?) to get my passport back. Fortunately, a couple hundred dollars had been wired to me in West Berlin just the day before.

About six years later, thanks to President Reagan, the Berlin Wall came down. Friends in Germany delivered these wall pieces to me as a remembrance of our road trip. Please never forget: the Berlin Wall and the Soviet Union both collapsed under the weight of their own evil.

U.S. radical liberals have said so many times that walls don’t work, I’m beginning to believe it’s true. I guess we all need to just step in line and admit radlibs© know better than us normal folks. This means, of course, that the next logical step is to remove all walls from prisons, factories, military bases, airports, schools, churches, Fort Knox, rich politician homes, rich move star homes, and the Vatican.

If you’ve been reading UERT for a while, you know I’m from Blythe, a small, isolated, desert farm town where people (me included) are assumed to be unsophisticated and, perhaps, unsmart. When I was a kid in Blythe, I got seriously injured drinking milk. The cow sat on me.

<>

Blythe’s unsmartness apparently affected the Colorado River which is only about a mile from town. All of our fish drowned.

<>

Two of my childhood friends were brothers. When they grew up, one went into politics and the other became a good citizen.

EXCUSE ME,UNK. MAY I INTERRUPT?”

Of course! Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s a surprise visit from roving political reporter Trever Nump. What’s up, Trever?

“WELL, UNK, I THOUGHT IT WAS ABOUT TIME TO HEAR YOUR OPINION ON A FEW THINGS.”

Okay. Shoot.

“OH! DON’T SAY, SHOOT. WE DON’T WANT TO OFFEND OUR RADLIB© READERS. NOW THEN … I’D LIKE TO KNOW WHAT YOU THINK OF ALEXANDRIA OCASIO-CORTEZ, THE AVOWED SOCIALIST WHO IS A FRESHMAN CONGRESSWOMAN.”

I think she’s a  freshman communist.

“MS. OCASIO-CORTEZ RECENTLY STATED, ‘LIKE, NO MATTER HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT THE WALL, YOU KNOW, I THINK IT’S A MORAL ABOMINATION. I THINK IT’S LIKE THE BERLIN WALL.’”

Trever, that statement begs the question: Is history no longer taught in U.S. public schools? Or is it perhaps, truth, that is no longer taught in public schools?

“JUST TO SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT FOR MS.OCASIO-CORTEZ, THE COMMUNIST GOVERNMENT BUILT THE BERLIN WALL FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF KEEPING ITS OWN CITIZENS CAPTIVE. CITIZENS WERE LEAVING COMMUNIST GERMANY AS QUICKLY AS THEY COULD.”

Kinda like the millions of people escaping from California.

“GERMAN CITIZENS HATED COMMUNISM SO MUCH, THEY RISKED BEING MURDERED BY THEIR OWN GOVERNMENT WHEN THEY ESCAPED OVER THE BERLIN WALL. AND THEIR GOVERNMENT DID, INDEED, MURDER THEM.”

Yep. To say a U.S. southern border wall—which will keep U.S. citizens safe—is the same as the Berlin Wall, is something only a poorly-educated ideologue would say. Ya gotta ask yourself … is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez an airhead? Or merely an errorhead?

“HEY UNK … MAYBE SHE’S FROM BLYTHE!”

THOSE WHO IGNORE HISTORY ARE

PROBABLY RADICAL LIBERALS

In closing, please allow me to clarify where I’m coming from (other than Blythe). I am not a conservative. And I’m definitely not a liberal. Just like all the critically-thinking (i.e., non-party-line) citizens of the United States, I am normal. Heck, I don’t even kill babies.
